conceptualization

GURPS-based stats might come a bit later. This is Bio Revision 0.0, so there are almost certainly several missteps.
(Rivka Tobias-Blackgaard Clan Universe)
Approximate age: 32
(HIST) Rivka was born in western Russia to British parents, there on a technology contract. She had a relatively sedentary childhood and still speaks in a neatly clipped (though slightly odd-sounding) mixture of a classical 'BBC accent' and one more common in Russia, although she can speak Russian itself with close to native-level comprehension. At 13, she and her family returned to Britain--Somerset, to be precise. She eventually graduated from Cambridge at 23, with a degree in psychology, and worked for approximately one year before being trained as an interrogator by the military there.
After another several years of work she left the military, moved to America, and began working in industrial spying and corporate sabotage under several aliases. In several of her more hacking-oriented jobs, she came across links to the Clan through front operations in certain Romanian and Ukranian cities. Through several more traces and contacts and a lengthy private investigation, she eventually completed the link series which led to the Manor itself ... ... ...

(TRA) As implied, she has advanced training in both psychology as an academic field and numerous less-theoretical interrogation techniques with years of experience in both. In hacking technology she's largely self taught, preferring to rely on social engineering and similar tactics to what would more traditionally be considered 'hacking' by most. She also has mild skill in kickboxing and some other unarmed combat disciplines and gun-wielding, with a personal interest in go and chess.

(EQU) Beretta 92, monofibre whip generally hidden under coat in the event of an emergency melee situation, and a combat knife of a stiletto-type model strapped to the side of her leg in the event of yet more emergency melee situations.
At present she's living in a somewhat luxury apartment in New York; she has a higher than average income, and can afford relatively high-quality computer equipment.

More coming slightly later.

independent random thought

The KMV is surrounded by a form of metaphysical, self-contained wall taking on the form of a larger hypercube. It is this wall which seperates the actual realities which the author interacts with from mere simulations (which are self-created and thus fall within the wall's span). Inside of the wall, designated beings like Lancer/Agents and Nightmare (and, of course, Tensai/Tiancai her/myself--though I don't see it as if 'twere reality) have vastly increased power; outside of it, although they may be unusual (how, I ask, can AIX-Gale not be unusual?! he can practically wield a sword as a weapon... in the BC universe...) they aren't as powerful as they are in the KMV-proper.
Especially Nightmare.
Especially Nightmare... powergrabbing sneaky... (mumble mumble)

random history rant #001

I'm gaining more and more pity for Lowen. He really got the short end of the hypothetical backstory stick. Gale had this interesting revolutionary backstory which almost certainly includes Sarisa at some point (I doubt their, them being Unu et al., motivation for targeting her first was just in the fact that she bore a superficial resemblance to Tian). Xander had some grand world-traversing adventures once upon a day (everything in the KMV is usually world-traversing and almost certainly grand), even Kain has this unusual history in a slightly off-norm universe...
L got into military tech school because, contrary to first impressions, he actually excelled at it. His father was also a Marshal. Both his parents died in between IH2 and IH1 because they were old. How... unexciting.

26, y0.

Happy Boxing Day.
Maybe I should get out the fencing gear, in the new spirit of the season. Have at ye.

In other news, I'm playing RF Online again.

images

'hated and feared at the wax-works'
static images--lathe as cara--what is the name of that electronics firm in France--odd character teamups in divergent universes
who is rivka--lucidity--radiance--mental distortion and disorder--antisocial personality? obsessive-compulsive? melancholic mania

also, cara and kain work together or at least loosely associate for similar purposes in the blackgaard clan universes (although they haven't featured mainly in anything, which is good, as i have too many characters there already)
this is extremely odd
especially considering from whence they came
(if you did not understand anything here, loosely associated as they are, don't worry)

Also, anyone who would name her in-universe self a form of the word 'Genius' probably doesn't have all that much of a sense of proportion.
But at least it's in another language.
And it can also mean 'natural disaster.'
I think some people would agree.

sudden news flash (concept/inspired by S.B.)

SHOCKING NEW DEVELOPMENT!
(Sonuna said to be 'not annoying' according to leading researcher)
"This goes against several basic tenets of reality as we know it," J. Random Townsperson said at a press conference yesterday. "We will have to rethink much of our research around this stunning new concept." Tobias Aligheri, who has nothing to do with this random news flash, was unavailable for comment.
Sterling Metler, in response to our inquiries, muttered something along the lines of "stop talking to me, I'm dead."
Lowen F. of Sigeki, expert on... something on which he is an expert, denied the veracity of this claim. His response will be printed in a later issue of the News Magazine of Evil or Whatever.

... Yeah.

brief announcement

Phase 1. Chapter 1. Begun.

I deny that EK's constant 'let me see your nanos' pleas had anything to do with this.
No, really.
"With a few clicks, the cell door reopened, and the two began rushing down the hallway. Stealthily, like insane bunnies who for some reason needed to also be stealthy. The ship seemed curiously abandoned, as if a virus had approached the board and killed all of the Swedish pirate ninjas who had formerly been rather critical to its operation as a flying entity; Julien herself found this development extremely unsettling, considering the various things that usually happened once a random zeppelin had been stripped of the crew critical to its operation, including falling from insane heights and performing unpleasant crashing manouvers which were distinctly distinct from epic board manouvers, epic applesauce music, or any other three-word phrase beginning with epic."

Since when did Prismatic/NaNo06-2 turn into IH/NaNo04?
It's just... strange. As it began perfectly 'normal' for lack of a better term for insane steampunk world with plenty of mad scientists roaming around.
Also, 'distinctly distinct'? o_O;

sanity artifice

Tian. Tiancai. Tensai.
Ha. I'm so arrogant.
The first half of my chosen nom de guerre in my own bizarre fictional designs represents, amusingly, half of my personality. It is her side I take in person with those of my acquaintances who could be properly termed friends; a bit of culture shock for those who know me only as the darker, older side of my mental state. My masks worn in public and with my non-physical friends are more rationally cynical.
Hmm.
Maybe, just maybe, I do have dissociation.
That would be amusing.

->the shifting morality of a world is often associable with that of its creator; indeed, the original precepts by which it operates are often the same way.
black and white; there is a good side and a bad side; although both are human, having multidimensional characteristics, you know which one you're rooting for from more or less the beginning; narrative formulae can make this more obvious.
I feel philosophically inferior to Sasayaki Chromosphere. When comparing deep philosophical insight to random let us have chaotic story-time fluff, the disparate forms seem... distinctly removed in terms of quality...

Meh.

'How many Marxists does it take to change a light-bulb?
None. The light-bulb contains the seeds of its own revolution.'
Ha.
